Quebec modernizes the Construction Safety Code<\/p>\n\n
New amendments to the Construction Safety Code (CSTC) strengthen the requirements related to rescuing a worker suspended following a fall.
\n<\/p>\n\n
These changes aim to align Quebec\u2019s regulations with those of other Canadian provinces, while ensuring that workers are properly trained, equipped, and prepared to respond in emergency situations.
\n<\/p>\n\n
Among the new requirements are:<\/p>\n\n
\n
the implementation of a written rescue procedure enabling intervention within 15 minutes or less
\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
specific training on rescue procedures<\/li>\n\n\n\n
the conduct of practical rescue drills<\/li>\n\n\n\n
the availability of rescue equipment on construction sites<\/li>\n\n\n\n
the use of NFPA \/ ANSI certified equipment<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n
These amendments highlight an essential reality: fall protection must always be supported by a clear, structured, and effective rescue plan.
